Most Efficient Coupes

Below are the top 10 most efficient coupes sorted by their highway fuel mileage.

Unfortunately for most of us, all are expensive, foreign, luxurious cars. They all have large petrol fueled engines and as a group their fuel consumptions are relatively poor compared to other categories of car.

It would be great to see more Indian manufacturers producing efficient coupes to give consumers the option of a cheaper car.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350

The most efficient coupe is the Mercedes-Benz E350.

Despite having a large and powerful 3.5 litre V6 capable of developing 272 PS, the E350's engine is very economical. Its four-valve technology, variable camshaft, two-stage intake manifold and balancer shaft help to minimise its fuel consumption.

The Mercedes-Benz E350 also has 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission which further increases fuel efficiency. An optimum ratio is maintained at all times within small rev speed ranges.
